Beaches
Just a short drive away, you will discover an incredible variety of beaches that are part of the 60km stretch of coastline from Comporta to Sines.
Due to strict housing regulations in the Alentejo region, building houses on the dunes is prohibited. As a result, our backyard is a blissful expanse of preserved wild beaches with crystal-clear blue waters, all of which are protected, enjoyed, and respected.
Praia do Carvalhal: Home to the renowned Restaurante Sal, where you can join the Portuguese finest for chic, lazy lunches barefoot, enjoying splendid seafood and Vasco’s hand-selected wines. Sublime also has a beach club restaurant here.
Praia do Pego: Features the trendy JNcQUOI restaurant and beach club which makes for a perfect day at the beach to follow with dinner and drinks.
Praia da Comporta: Ideal for arriving or departing from the Comporta/Melides area. Located 10 minutes from the ferryboat to Troia/Setubal, it offers a relaxed travel option. Comporta Café and Ilha both serve great food.
Restaurants
Located on Carvalhal beach near Comporta. Enjoy chic, leisurely lunches barefoot, savoring splendid seafood and sipping on Vasco’s hand-selected wines. Open most of the year, with reduced hours in winter.
Dona Bia: A classic Portuguese restaurant overlooking Comporta’s rice fields. Absolutely fantastic and open year-round, offering unassuming and delightful dishes like Ameijoas Bulhão Pato, garlic shrimp, and seafood rice.
A Granaho: A charming wooden-tabled Portuguese restaurant on the way to Carvalhal beach. Ideal for Sunday lunch with outstanding seabass and olive oil-covered new potatoes. Great value for money.
Gomes Wine Bar: Located in central Comporta, this year-round spot serves elegant Portuguese cuisine with seasonal menu changes. Don’t miss the pork cheeks paired with impressive wine selections.
Jacare: Situated in central Comporta, Jacare offers Italian cuisine with DJ music and cocktails on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights—an excellent spot for dining and dancing.
Comporta Café: Convenient for travelers arriving or departing from Comporta/Melides via ferry to Troia/Setubal. Located 10 minutes from the ferryboat, it offers great food and a relaxed atmosphere.
Sublime Hotel: Renowned for putting Comporta on the map, this hotel offers a memorable experience under umbrella pines. Perfect for a morning coffee, sundowner, or a glass of white wine before heading home.
Sal Burger: Open from July to September in Carvalhal’s backyard, it’s a casual spot with wooden picnic tables, ideal for families. Enjoy fantastic burgers in a relaxed setting.
JNcQUOI Beach Club: Located on Praia do Pego, among white sand dunes, green pine forests, and the blue ocean, JNcQUOI Beach Club is the perfect place to enjoy the finest fresh fish and seafood, cooked with authenticity and flavor.
Cavalrica: Found in Comporta’s heart, this restaurant in the old horse stables serves experimental small plates, perfect for special occasions and open for dinner year-round.
Horse Riding
Enjoy free rental bikes during your stay. We’d be happy to point you toward some of our favorite trails, shopping and restaurants, all accessible on two wheels.
